SUMMIT, NJ - Voters is Summit are in for more of the same as Democrat incumbent Nora Radest was the only person who filed a petition to run in the 2019 primary, according to officials.

The deadline was Monday at 4 p.m.

Radest is running first to secure her party's nomination in June and then will move on to the general election. Barring an independent running or other unusual political quirk, Radest looks a lock to retain her post in November.

Elected in 2015 and sworn in in 2016, Radest topped then-incumbent Republican Ellen Dickson to secure her first term as mayor.

"For the past three and a half years I have had the pleasure and privilege of serving as the Mayor of Summit. I have met many residents who have shared their stories with me and I believe we have made great strides in achieving the goals I campaigned on in 2015," Radest told Patch, "Increased communication and transparency and fiscal responsibility to name a few. Over the next four years we face decisions that can keep Summit strong for generations to come. I will be discussing my vision for Summit over the next several months by walking door-to-door and through several media outlets. I hope residents will share their thoughts and concerns with me."
