The Summit Playhouse presents the award-winning musical VIOLET

Recently revived on Broadway with Sutton Foster "Violet" is a moving story of hope and healing featuring Jeanine Tesori's beautiful score.

The Summit Playhouse will present the award-winning musical“Violet” with performances on May 12, 13, 19 and 20 at 8:00 PM and a matinee performance May 14 at 2:00 PM.

Recently revived on Broadway starring Sutton Foster, “Violet” features Jeanine Tesori’s (Fun Home, Shrek, Thoroughly Modern Millie) score of show-stopping anthems ranging from American roots to folk to gospel. “Violet” tells the story of a young woman’s quest for beauty amidst the image-obsessed landscape of the 1960s. Facially disfigured in a childhood accident, Violet dreams of a miraculous transformation through the power of faith. Convinced that a televangelist in Oklahoma can heal her, she hops a Greyhound bus and starts the journey of a lifetime across the Deep South. Along the way she forms unlikely friendships with her fellow riders who teach her about beauty, love, courage and how to overcome the scars that lie beneath our skin.

The cast includes Stephany Goulart as Violet. Shan Williams plays Flick and Matt Coakley plays Monty,
the young soldiers traveling to an Army base on the cusp of the Vietnam War. Kyra Anthony is Young Violet and Jeffrey Fiorello plays the Father. Summit Playhouse veteran performer Michael King is the Preacher while Laura Berman Fortgang is the Old Lady. The cast also includes Sharaé Moultrie as the singer Lula Buffington, Will Carey as Virgil, Bailey Howell, and Thomas Fetner.

The production is directed by Rob Nissen, with music direction by Patrick Phillips and is produced by Sandra Nissen
