Summit Playhouse to present 'Shrek the Musical'
The latest offering from Summit's Pixie Dust Players is part romance, part twisted fairy tale and irreverent fun for the whole family.

Shrek the Musical" makes its New Jersey debut at Summit Playhouse starting July 20.
The Pixie Dust Players production, a part of the venue's Kaleidoscope Theatre, is based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks comedy and was directed and choreographed by 18-year-old Lindsay Maron. Musical direction was provided by Brandon Ilaw.
The show stars young performers from ages 6 through 24 from across the Garden State. "Shrek the Musical" is part romance, part twisted fairy tale and irreverent fun for the whole family.
The play brings the movie story of everyone's favorite ogre to life on the stage: In a kingdom far, far away and turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre—not a handsome prince—shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won't shut up, a bad guy with a bad temper and a Napoleon complex, a gingerbread cookie with an attitude and many more colorful fairy-tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand, and his name is Shrek.
The production runs weekends from July 20 through Aug. 4 and tickets already are on sale and selling out. To make sure you get your chance to see "Shrek the Musical" at Summit Playhouse, head to www.summitplayhouse.org or www.brownpapertickets.com for more information and to purchase tickets.
