Summit Police Arrest Home Burglar
A Newark man is in custody after breaking into a Summit home and stealing a laptop and wallet Wednesday morning, police report.
SUMMIT, NJ — A Newark man was arrested for burglarizing a Summit home Wednesday morning.
A Webster Avenue resident reported leaving her home for a short period of time in the morning and when she returned she found a laptop computer and wallet had been stolen.
The resident called police around 10:45 a.m. to report the crime. A witness gave police a description of a man who had been seen running from the scene.

About 10 minutes later, a man matching the description of the suspect was stopped by police near 587 Springfield Ave. The man was later identified as Anthony Harper, 27, of Newark.
Harper was found to be in possession of the stolen items and arrested. He was charged with burglary and theft and is being held pending a bail hearing.
