Summit Resident Scammed For More Than $9K: Police

The victim told police they were trying to send money to a family member.

SUMMIT, NJ - A Summit resident was scammed out of nearly $10,000 according to the Summit Police Department.

According to authorities on June 24 a report was taken for a theft of money where the victim reported to have utilized a shipping business that was located online to send $9,000 to family out of the country. The suspect agreed to assist the victim but requested an additional $450 payment to cover additional expenses. The victim provided the suspect with $9,450 which was never provided to the family, police said.
