Summit Restaurants To Donate Proceeds To Tarentino's Family

2 Summit restaurants will be donating 15 percent of their proceeds on June 15 to the family of the Summit officer, who was killed last week.

SUMMIT, NJ — Two Summit restaurants will be donating 15 percent of their proceeds on June 15 to the family of Detective Matt Tarentino, who was killed last week in a fatal three-car accident on Interstate 78 East in Bernards Township.

Piattino, A Neighborhood Bistro and The Office Tavern and Grill are both donating proceeds from all food sales and non-alcoholic drinks including take-out orders from 11:30 to 1 a.m. on June 15.

The event is sponsored by the Summit PAL who also created a donation site for the Tarentino family at youcaring.com/victoriatarentino-835682. A total of $520,000 has already been raised since last week.

Tarentino, a Summit Police Detective, 29, leaves behind his wife, Victoria and two sons, Robert, 3, and Raymond, 2. Victoria is also pregnant with their third child, due in August.

The former Somerville local moved to Summit where he had served as an officer since 2012.

He was on his way to work in Summit on May 30 when a westbound car crossed over the Interstate 78 median near exit 33 and struck him and another eastbound car at 6:20 a.m.
