Summit's 'Rising Stars' Secure Highest Number of Nominations by the Paper Mill

Summit High School earned 19 nominations in the Paper Mill's Rising Star Awards. The cast and crew of "Beauty and the Beast" earned accolades.

For the eighth year in a row, Summit Performing Arts has been nominated for Best Overall Production of a Musicial by the Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Awards.

Again this year, Summit leads the list with the most final nominations — 19 — of any participating school, following it's successful production of "Beauty and the Beast." Ninety-two schools entered this award program. The Awards Ceremony will be June 4 at the Paper Mill Playhouse. Summit will once again perform a number on the stage as one of the six nominated outstanding musicals.

Outstanding Performance by a Chorus- Wayne Mallette

Outstanding Performance by an Orchestra- Steve Rapp

Outstanding  Achievement by a Director-Anne Poyner

Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction- Wayne Mallette and Steve Rapp

Outstanding Achievement in Choreography- Kelly Mott-Sacks

Outstanding Scenic Achievement- Travis McHale

Outstanding Lighting Achievement -Travs McHale

Outstanding Costuming Achievement- Katherine Winter and Thom Gonzales

Outstanding Hair and Make-Up Achievement- Thom Gonzales

Outstanding Achievement in Lobby Display- Mary-Ann Terrett and Tina White

Scholarships:

Kevin Meier has been recommended for the Scaramouche Technical Theatre Scholarship.

Lynsey Newsham has been recommended for the Musical Theatre Scholarship.
