Summit's New, Used Sporting Equipment Drive Will Help Others

SUMMIT, NJ — Local Summit athletes and their dads are giving back to the broader community by organizing a collection for Leveling the Playing Field, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that distributes new and used sporting equipment to disadvantaged youth across the country.

“One in five low-income families are unable to get their kids involved in organized sports due to rising equipment expenses. As a result, underserved children are three times less likely to participate in sports than their peers," according to Summit Community Programs.

The second annual new and used sporting equipment drive will be held on Saturday, May 6 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Solider's Memorial Field, 5 Myrtle Ave. in Summit.
