The Learning Circle YMCA celebrated Earth Day with a host of activities that encouraged students to care for the earth. Through environmentally friendly art projects, the children were inspired to use their creativity and imagination while they learned about the importance of being socially responsible. Using recycled materials, the children made a variety of masterpieces including robots, castles, bird nests and decorative planters. In addition to the artwork, the children also read books about caring for the earth and recycling, they helped to tidy up around the building, and plant in the Learning Circle YMCA garden with the help of their teachers. The Earth Day activities embraced all of the Y’s key areas of focus by promoting youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
