Threatening Calls, Text Messages Reported In Summit

SUMMIT, NJ — Summit residents are reporting receiving threatening phone calls and text messages, according to Summit Police.

The residents report the calls or messages involve an unknown caller demanding money in exchange for the protection of a family member from harm or public embarrassment.

The incidents have been reported to police over the course of the past several weeks.

The Police Department’s investigation into these calls has determined that they are scams.

Report all suspicious activity to the Summit Police Department by calling the Dispatch Center at 908-273-0051.
