When we eat, we're supposed to take bites carefully and politely. But some folks would rather throw their food in the air and catch it in their mouths -- and grapes are their favorite choice for this. There's more than one guy who says he's the best in the world at this, too. One guy, Paul Tavilla, claims to have caught a grape from the farthest distance, from 327 1/2 feet away. Another guy, Steve Spalding, caught 116 grapes in 3 minutes, as shown in this video. He also caught grapes longer than anyone else, landing 1,203 grapes in a half hour. But the only official recordholder on the Guinness website is AJ Henderson, who in 2013 caught the farthest self-thrown grape: he threw his own grape 69 1/2 feet and caught it in his own mouth (we're assuming that was straight up and down). If you want to get great at catching grapes, you can read Paul's advice: use black grapes because they're easy to see, and keep your eyes open.
Now here's today's math~
Wee ones: If your friend catches 4 grapes thrown in a row and you catch 6 in a row, who caught more?
Little kids: If you can catch 10 grapes per minute, how many can you catch in 3 minutes? Bonus: How many more than that can you catch in 4 minutes?
Big kids: If Steve had caught exactly 1,200 grapes in a half hour, how many per minute would that have been? (Reminder: A whole hour has 60 minutes.) Bonus: If AJ caught his own grape at 69 ½ feet but Paul caught one from someone else at 327 ½ feet, from how much farther did Paul catch his grape?

Wee ones: You caught more!
Little kids: 30 grapes. Bonus: 10 more grapes since it's 1 more minute.
Big kids: 40 per minute, since a half hour is 30 minutes. Bonus: 258 feet farther.
