Union County Sheriff's K-9 Unit Mourns Death of Lorcan

Summit, NJ -- Union County Sheriff's K-9 Unit lost one of its own on Monday to leukemia.

"K-9 Lorcan lost his brief battle with Leukemia," the UCSK9 posted on Facebook. "He remained strong until the end. Lorcan you will be missed. Please keep his handler, Officer Ryan Wilson in your thoughts and prayers."

Lorcan had been with the department since 2009 and served as a patrol and narcotics canine. He would track suspects and missing persons and search for narcotics.

"He was paired up with Officer Ryan Wilson where he lived with him and worked with him," said Sgt. Brian Howard. "Off duty he was his pet. They were kind of inseparable. He became a big part of the family."

Lorcan was diagnosed last week with leukemia and died on Monday morning.
