Union Man May Face Prison On Child Porn Charges: Prosecutor

The Union man allegedly had at least 200 video files and 400 images​ of child porn on his home computer: prosecutor.

UNION, NJ — A Union Township man, who had hundreds of images and videos of child porn on his home computer, is being indicted, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Thursday.

A Union County grand jury has returned a three-count indictment against Jadir Souza, 62, of Union.

Souza is charged with second-degree distribution of child pornography, second-degree distribution using a file-sharing program, and third-degree possession of child pornography, according to Union County Assistant Prosecutor Shawn Barnes, who is prosecuting the case.

Souza was allegedly using a peer-to- peer file-sharing program to view child porn on his home computer. He allegedly had at least 200 video files and 400 images, Barnes reported.

He was arrested in November 2016 and held on $100,000 bail. Souza could face 5 to 10 years in state prison for the second-degree criminal offenses and 3 to 5 years for third-degree offenses.
