'The Way We Get By' by Neil LaBute Opens In Summit Nov. 2

The play is presented by Alliance Repertory Theatre Company.

SUMMIT, NJ - Beth (Lilli Marques) and Doug (Jeff Ronan) are both attractive, intelligent, and charming -- neither has ever struggled to find a partner. In the dim light of early morning following a drunken hookup, however, the pair find themselves in uncharted territory.

"The Way We Get By" by Neil LaBute is a comedy about lust, life, and that other “L” word. Alliance Repertory Theatre’s production opens Friday, Nov 2.

As they flirt, fight, and flounder in the blurry, half-drunk morning hours, facts come to light that lay both Beth and Doug bare and vulnerable -- to each other, to themselves, and eventually to the world outside Beth’s rental apartment.

“The audience will surely identify with Mr. Labute's telling of the classic mating dance -- with its steps of advancement and retreat,” said Director Michael Driscoll. “Working with two highly skilled actors on this relatable rom-com has been truly satisfying.”

“The Way We Get By” runs Nov 2 thru the 17. Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov 8 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Nov 11 at 3 p.m. For reservations, call 908-472-1502 or visit www.alliancerep.org. Up next, “Church & State” by Jason Odell Williams in March 2019.
