The “Christmas Time in the Eternal City” Holiday Show Spectacular will be presented on December 15th, at 7:30 p.m. at the Lawton C Johnson Auditorium at Summit Middle School. A production of the Continuo Arts Foundation, this annual event will present works celebrating the music of Italy, and concludes with a fully staged production of Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors, starring Amanda Blütner, Craig Sanphy, Anthony Alberti, Skyler Klein, Geoff Buchan, and introducing Ford Tufankjian as Amahl. Under the baton of Founder and Executive Director Dr. Candace Wicke, “Christmas Time in the Eternal City” features over 150 singers from Union, Morris and Essex Counties, soloists, orchestra, Santa, and much more!
Since its inception in 2007, The Continuo Arts Foundation has garnered the attention of the international music world as well as here in the tri-state area. Continuo Arts ensembles have appeared in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The Music Center at Strathmore and other first tier venues of note. They have appeared on tour with Andre Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra, premiered Disney’s “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” in 42 shows at the Paper Mill Playhouse and were the first US organization in history to present a concert inside the Sistine Chapel. As the chorus-in-residence at Carnegie Hall, Continuo’s Symphonic Chorus collaborated with Mid-America Productions to present Mass of the Children under the baton of the composer, John Rutter. The Continuo Arts 2019 season will include local concerts, as well as a spectacular concert tour to Greece next summer for the International Festival of the Aegean.
The Continuo Arts Conservatory of Music was opened in 2016, consolidating office, studios, ensemble and rehearsal hall space. The Conservatory is located at 36 Chatham Road and offers a full range of private music lessons, musical theater programs and is home to the Children and Youth Choirs of New Jersey, Civic Chorale of New Jersey, Seniors Sing! and Sonaré, a young professionals chamber ensemble.
