Why Swim Anywhere Else?

The Summit Family Aquatic Center (SFAC) opened Memorial Day Weekend for the 2014 summer season with great reviews.  Members took notice of the well-kept facility and were more than happy to plunge into the heated waters for the first time after a long and strenuous winter.  Perhaps one of the most noticeable improvements to the facility was the completion of a brand new parking lot which was part of the $500,000 Capital Improvement Project.  Aerial footage which was taken of the facility this past week captures the improved parking lot along with the immaculate grounds that many Summit residents and beloved SFAC icon, Shark Diddy, are proud to call home during the summer months.

The newly improved parking lot is complete with landscaped islands, widened parking spaces, as well as five additional parking spaces.  Trees planted within the island will provide much needed shade during the summer months once they reach full height.  The main driveway entrance which has been widened has also undergone vast improvements and will receive a final coat of pavement in the coming weeks.  Several trees have been removed in order to improve visibility upon entering and exiting the parking lot.  Other safety features include a sidewalk leading directly from the street to the main entrance of the facility.

Presiding Officer of the Summit DCP Advisory Board, Jamie Colucci, has provided Community Programs and the City of Summit with several Aerial Photography and Videography pieces throughout the past year.  As the CEO of The Aerial Filming Company, located in Short Hills, NJ, Colucci is proud to offer his services to the town in which he resides, capturing several local amenities including the entire park system operated by the Summit DCP, the Summit Municipal Golf Course and Reeves Reed Arboretum to name just a few.

The Summit Family Aquatic Center was captured in still images for a second time this past week as well as in film.  The video features Daniel Byers, Summit Sharks Swim Team Coach, Lifeguard, and newly hired summer DCP intern swimming a long-course lap.  Shark Diddy also makes an appearance in the video as he welcomes members and potential new members to his home.

The piece will be featured throughout the summer at the popular Screen on the Green Movie Series and several other major events including Shark Diddy's Dive In Movie held at the Summit Family Aquatic Center.
