You Have The Best Berry Pie In Summit? Prove It

Berry Pie Contest at Summit Farmers Market on Sunday. Do you have what it take to win?

SUMMIT, NJ – Whether it is a time-honored family recipe passed down through generations or something you stole off of YouTube, Summit Downtown, Inc. wants you to show them your best berry pie this Sunday.

Amateur bakers are invited to bring their best Berry Pie to the Summit Farmers Market by
10:45 a.m. to participate in the the first Sunday Funday contest of the 2019 season. All types of berry pies are allowed:

  • mixed berry
  • strawberry rhubarb
  • blueberry
  • custard

Pre-registering is encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome.

All pies must be made from scratch and no canned ingredients or boxed mixed are allowed.
Entrants must bring a copy of their recipe to the contest with them. The winners will receive
Summit Farmers Market Fun Money to be spent at the market.

Judging begins at 11 a.m. The panel of judges will be comprised of Amy Currie, seasoned food stylist, recipe developer, and culinary producer, Jeff Hunter, pastry chef at
Winberie’s, and Beth Little, SDI Trustee and Summit Common Council member.

The next Sunday Funday activity will be the Annual Apple Pie Contest on Sunday, Sept. 29, followed by a Halloween Event on Sunday, Oct. 27 and The Pumpkin Bread/Muffin Contest on Sunday, Nov. 10.

The market is run by Summit Downtown, Inc. (SDI) and is located in the Park & Shop Lot #2,
at the corner of DeForest Avenue and Maple Street. It is open every Sunday through Nov.
24 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
