Just out of curiosity, I just ran a search on LinkedIn for people with the title “Seeking New Opportunities.” Let me explain why this is a bad idea. When Recruiter’s, HR personnel or Line Managers are conducting a search for a new position, they put in the title of the role they are looking to fill. Your headline is on the top of your “key word/rich” profile. No one searches for: Seeking a New Opportunity. A powerful title goes something like this, “Award-winning Mechanical Design Engineer | M.B.A. Pepperdine University.” “Top Sales | Business Development Executive with history of 150% increase in compound annual revenue growth.” Make sure your profile markets YOU. You are a product, and in order to sell that “product,” you have to clearly define what that is before putting it on the “shelf” – so to speak. Happy Hunting!
