Youth Concert & Art Fair May 20 at Beacon UU
Come hear youth bands & buy youth-made art to benefit NJ camp for refugee youth
The Youth Group at Beacon Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Summit will host a concert and art fair from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, at 4 Waldron Ave. (at Springfield Ave.) in Summit.
The public is invited to attend the event, which will benefit the Refugee Youth Summer Academy at Kean University’s Human Rights Institute. The three-week summer camp is sponsored by the International Rescue Committee – New York/New Jersey (IRC-NYNJ) and OneWorldOneLoveNJ.com.
Youth group members and others will be performing and offering the art on display at the fair. Israeli Disco, Baby Hands and Super Sweet 16 are among the popular bands already booked.

Youth-made art works will be displayed and sold to benefit the camp program. All forms of media that can be sold on site will be accepted for the show, including paintings, photography, sketches and digital animation.

The camp, scheduled for August, will enroll about 70 refugee youth living in New Jersey. Activities will include English language training by certified ESL instructors, recreation, art and/or music therapy and a weekly field trip. Lunch and snack will be provided daily.
