Stress can be a positive force in our lives, giving us the drive to move forward, to be creative, to leap tall buildings in a single bound. But stress can also be debilitating and overwhelming, creating unrelenting pressure and a sense that, no matter how hard we try, we will never catch up with the ever-increasing demands placed on our time and energy. This can be especially true for the holiday season that is rapidly approaching.
But there is good news: if stress is our societal malaise, then yoga is the antidote. When practiced regularly, this ancient yet timely discipline can help us to weather turbulent, stressful times with a calmer, more contemplative attitude that makes the challenging, stressful times feel less difficult and all-consuming.
