FIDF YL Hosts First Ever Virtual Comedy Show

FIDF Young Leadership hosts ""Heckles for Shekels" to celebrate fundraiser

Over 400 people from across the country joined the first-ever Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) Young Leadership (YL) national, virtual comedy show, “Heckles for Shekels,” Sunday night. A two-week summer fundraising challenge led up to the virtual comedy night, raising a total of $51,381, with donations still being accepted.

Four comedians performed at the “Heckles for Shekels” event; Tehran, Wayne Federman, Olga Namer, and Matthew Broussard. FIDF YL lay leaders from across the country emceed the event. Among them were FIDF YL Los Angeles lay leader Shmuly Goldsmith, FIDF YL Southeast lay leader Ben Levy, FIDF YL New England lay leader Marika Feuerstein, FIDF YL Miami lay leader Michael Tabacinic, and FIDF YL Tri-State lay leader Monica Emrani.

The funds raised by FIDF Young Leadership’s fundraising challenge and virtual comedy night will help support Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers who are protecting Israel from both existing external threats and the new danger of Covid-19. With long-term economic consequences of the pandemic looming, FIDF programs promise these soldiers a brighter future.
