Rolling Power Outages Expected

Teaneck is one of several Bergen County towns that should expect brief power outages as PSE&G continues to restore electricity to the area, authorities said.

PSE&G informed New Milford officials on Wednesday that residents can expect "temporary service disruptions" over the next few days.

"They are conducting rolling load shedding to prevent circuits from overheating," said New Milford Police Chief Frank Papapietro. "The disruption in services will be brief and no more than an hour or two in duration."

In addition to Teaneck, Papapietro said residents of New Milford, Hillsdale, Dumont and Bergenfield will be most heavily affected by the blackouts.  

PSE&G spokeswoman Deann Muzikar said the company was not instituting rolling outages, but that circuits could become overloaded as the company makes permanent repairs to the New Milford power substation.

"The utility has redirected customers to other circuits and they currently have power. However, these circuits could become overloaded and result in power losses.  By reducing their electric usage, customers can help prevent additional outages in their homes and neighborhoods," Muzikar said in an email Wednesday afternoon.

, Teaneck residents are asked to conserve electricity wherever possible until all circuits have been repaired.
