Teaneck Swim Club Announces Opening Day
The swim club will open on June 22, but a new set of rules will be the law of the pool this summer.
TEANECK, NJ — The lanes of the Teaneck Swim Club will soon be open, but a new set of guidelines will create a different experience than in years past.
The swim club announced an opening date of June 22 as Gov. Phil Murphy set out new guidelines for pools during a June 8 news conference. A countdown clock now counts down the days, hours and minutes until the pool opens to the public.
In a post to the swim club website, there was excitement expressed, but also a reminder that the pool wasn't opening during normal times.

"The danger of COVID 19 is far from being over and we must all continue to do everything possible to make the Swim Club a safe environment for all of us," it read.
The new rules installed by the swim club mimic the rules announced by Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli in a lot of ways.

In a set of 11 rules, the club announced rulings on face coverings, social distancing and more. One of the biggest differences will be a pre-entrance screening, in which members will be checked for a fever or signs of COVID-19 prior to entry.
These rules also include new hours for the 2020 season for the lap pool, main pool and kiddie pools.

In addition to the new rules, the swim club has made modification to its membership fees, including a waiver of late fees and an option to skip a season.
New members will have the chance to join without paying a bond or application fee during the 2020 season.
According to the post from the club, a "pro-rata" refund will be put toward next year's member dues, but the club will extend the season "a bit" in an effort to make up for lost pool days. The swim club usually opens over Memorial Day weekend.
