Teaneck Teen Has Role in New Nickelodeon Series 'How to Rock'

Show debuts Saturday night

Teaneck teen actor Christopher O’Neal will appear in a live-action Nickelodeon series Saturday night.

The new series, “How to Rock,” focuses on “Kacey Simon, a talented teenager who takes her rhythmic pop band to new heights as their lead singer, while navigating the shark-infested social waters of high school,” a Nickelodeon press release describes.

“How to Rock shows our audience that everyone holds an inner-coolness, regardless of appearance or social circle,” said Marjorie Cohn, Nickelodeon’s president, development and original programming said in the release. “Although Kacey is forced to fall out of the ‘in-crowd,’ she rocks her true self and soon proves that being ‘perfect’ is no longer cool.”

O’Neal, 17, plays high school freshman Kevin, northjersey.com reported. It’s a fitting role for the Teaneck actor, the report says.

"They said, 'He's a drummer.' I've been a drummer for about five years. Then they said he was skinny. I am kind of skinny. Tall," O'Neal said in an interview on northjersey.com. "They said he played basketball. I said, 'OK. I've done all of that.' And they said, 'And he raps.' Seriously, this is exactly who I am."
