THS Looks to Pair Students with Jobs in Community

Students available for a variety of jobs, program organizer says.

Teaneck residents in need of part-time or seasonal workers for various paid employment opportunities can contact Yvonne Witter, Employment Counselor for The Forum at  .

Students are available to babysit, mow lawns, do clerical work and assist in other capacities, said Witter, who heads THS's Employment Enrichment Program, which is part of The Forum.

"The Employment Enrichment Program assists Teaneck High School students in developing a plan to achieve their employment goals by providing career development workshops and effective job skills training," Witter said. "The objective is that as teens feel more confident in their ability to compete for job opportunities and subsequently land positions, they'll demonstrate a greater desire for community involvement, become less likely to participate in risky behaviors and focus on academic excellence -- all of these factors are mutually beneficial to both teens and the community."
