19-Year-Old Charged In Shots-Fired Incident In Beachwood

Beachwood police said the man was located quickly and a handgun used in the incident was seized.

BEACHWOOD, NJ — A Beachwood man has been arrested in connection with a shooting incident that happened Monday afternoon, Beachwood police said Wednesday.

Nathaniel Cichocki, 19, of Tiller Avenue, was being held in the Ocean County Jail as of Wednesday in the shooting that happened shortly before 3 p.m. Monday.

Police were called to the 300 block of Mizzen Avenue for reports of shots fired, and found a spent shell casing in the road. In addition, there were multiple witnesses to the shooting.

There were no reported injuries, police said.

Cichocki "was swiftly located and apprehended," police said, with Beachwood receiving help from the Toms River Police Department. A Hi-Point Model C9 handgun was located and seized, Beachwood police said.

Cichocki has been charged with unlawful possession of a handgun and endangering another person, Beachwood police said. Ocean County Jail records include an additional charge of aggravated assault-strangulation. Police did not provide details of that charge because it involves a domestic violence incident.

Beachwood police said the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. The Pine Beach, South Toms River and Berkeley Township police departments also assisted.
