TOMS RIVER, NJ — Three people were injured in a crast at Route 70 and Massachusetts Avenue after one driver turned into the path of an oncoming car, Toms River police said.

The crash Thursday morning sent Melanie Pierciey, 47, of Bayville, Alexander Robinson, 41, of Barnegat, and a passenger in Robinson's car to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment of moderate injuries, said Jillian Messina, media specialist for the Toms River Police Department.

Pierciey was issued a summons for failure to yield at an intersection, Messina said. Robinson was driving east on Route 70 when Pierciey, who was driving west, made a left turn toward Massachusetts Avenue into Robinson's path, police determined.
