3 Toms River Men Charged After Police Overhear Drug Conversation

BRICK, NJ — Four men, including three Toms River residents, were arrested Thursday after detectives overheard them talking about drug activity and found them in possession of drugs, police said Monday.

Frank Tomasulo, 58, Michael Britton, 35, and Austin Kaiser, 43, all of Toms River, and Arnaldo Martinez, 50, of Jackson, were arrested about 8 p.m. Thursday near Walmart on Route 88, Brick Sgt. Jim Kelly said.

Detectives from the Street Crimes Unit were conducting surveillance when they heard the four men talking about their engagement in drug activity, Kelly said.

The detectives spoke with the four men, and K-9 Officer Ray LaPoint arrived with K-9 Rebel, who conducted a sniff investigation, he said. The result was positive indications for the presence of controlled dangerous substances, and the ensuing search turned up crack and drug paraphernalia, Kelly said.

Tomasulo was charged with possession of crack, possession of paraphernalia and loitering to obtain or distribute a controlled dangerous substance and was taken to the Ocean County Jail, Kelly said.

Martinez was charged with possession of crack, possession of paraphernalia and loitering to obtain or distribute a controlled dangerous substance on a warrant, and was taken to the Ocean County Jail, Kelly said..

Britton was charged with possession of crack, possession of paraphernalia and loitering to obtain or distribute a controlled dangerous substance on a warrant. He was taken to the Ocean County Jail, Kelly said..

Kaiser was charged with possession of paraphernalia and loitering to obtain or distribute a controlled dangerous substance on a warrant, and he was taken to the Ocean County Jail, Kelly said.
