6 From Ocean County Accused Of Beating Monmouth County Teen At Country Club: Police

The six drove from South Toms River area to condos at Knob Hill Country Club in Manalapan, where police say they assaulted a 19-year-old.

MANALAPAN, NJ — Six Ocean County residents, including three adults and a 17-year-old from South Toms River, have been charged with aggravated assault after police said they beat a 19-year-old Manalapan man on Sunday evening.

Alexander Madonna, 19; Harvey "Lee" Hatfield, 21; Gavin Kenney, 19, all of South Toms River, and a 17-year-old unidentified male from South Toms River, and Zachary Seeds, 20, and Kayla Lutz, 20, both of Bayville, all were arrested Sunday night, Manalapan police said Tuesday.

Police were called to St. Andrews Place in the Knob Hill Country Club condominium development about 10:30 p.m. for a report of several people with bats and crow bars causing a disturbance in the parking lot, police said.

The victim told police he had been assaulted by five people in the parking lot, police said. The extent of the victim's injuries was not immediately known.

Upon further investigation, Madonna, Hatfield, Kenney, Seeds, Lutz, and the unnamed 17-year-old were found to be in possession of "multiple folding knives and a crow bar," police said.

Madonna additionally had outstanding warrants totaling $1,500, Manalapan police said. According to Monmouth County Corrections records, Madonna was wanted on charges of criminal trespass and a disorderly persons-level charge of shoplifting in Berkeley Township.

Hatfield — whose Facebook profile photo includes the banner "I'm against bullying" — and Lutz, Seeds and the unnamed 17-year-old all were charged with two counts of aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and criminal mischief, police said.

Kenney and Madonna each were charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and third-degree criminal mischief, according to Monmouth County Corrections records.

As of Tuesday, Lutz, Kenney, Hatfield, and Madonna all were being held at the Monmouth County jail in lieu of $60,000 each. The $60,000 bail for Seeds had been posted, and it was unknown whether the 17-year-old remained in the jail or not.

Manalapan Patrolman Kyle Earley handled the report, Manalapan police said.
