50th Anniversary Celebrations at the Lacey Branch of the Ocean County Library

FORKED RIVER – The Lacey Branch will celebrate its 50^th anniversary on Tuesday, July 28 with two wonderful programs. An opening ceremony will begin the festivities at 10:30 a.m.

“Penguin Pointers with Jenkinson’s Aquarium” will begin at 11 a.m. Waddle into the world of these beloved flightless birds. Learn their basic biology, where they live, the threats they face, how we can help them in the wild, and how Jenkinson’s cares for them at the aquarium. A flightless friend from the aquarium will make a special appearance. This program is generously sponsored by the Ocean County Library Foundation.

Immediately after the program, Vampire Penguin, a shaved ice food truck, will be available outside for patrons to purchase delicious summertime treats. Please be aware of any potential food allergens. The food truck is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Lacey Library.

“Lacey Historical Society: History of the Lacey Library” will begin at 6 p.m. Discover how Lacey’s library evolved throughout the 20^th century in this engaging presentation by the Lacey Historical Society. From early reading rooms in private homes to our modern community hub, explore the people, places, and stories that shaped public access to knowledge across generations.
