Beach Badges For Shelter Cove, Ortley, On Sale In Toms River

The badges are free for military personnel and their families; see the details below.

TOMS RIVER, NJ -- Families seeking to purchase beach badges for Ortley Beach and Shelter Cove can now buy them, Toms River officials said.

The seasonal beach badges are $35, $15 for senior citizens, who must show proof of age, town officials said.

Badges can be purchased at the Recreation Administration Office, 1810 Warren Point Road, or the Toms River Senior Center located at 652 Garfield Avenue, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In February, the Township Council unanimously passed an ordinance that waives beach fees for all active U.S. military, military reservists and military retirees, their spouses or civil union partners and dependent children. You must present a valid military identification card to receive your beach badge, officials said.
