Bicycle Helmet Ice Cream Program Returns In Toms River

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Operation Brain Freeze has returned in Toms River for 2023.

Now through the end of August, Toms River police officers will be handing out "summonses" to children seen around town wearing their bicycle helmets while riding their bikes, the police department announced.

The "tickets" will entitle children to an ice cream cone at the participating ice cream shops.

The police department said it has increased the number of certificates its officers will be handing out this year.

"Wear your bike helmets, have fun and always be safe!" the department said.
