Toddler Airlifted After Dog Bite In Stable Condition, Police Say
The child was playing with the animal in the kitchen when the dog bit him in the face Monday night, police said.

A child who was seriously bitten by his family dog Monday night in Toms River is in stable condition, according to information from police.
According to Toms River Police spokesman Ralph Stocco, officers were called to the 100 block of 4th Avenue in the Normandy Beach section of the township at about 8:15 p.m. for a report that a child had been bitten by a dog.
Upon arrival, officers found that a 3-year old-boy who had been bitten in the face by the family pet. The child was playing with the animal in the kitchen when the animal bit him, Stocco said.

Initial first aid was administered by the officers until EMS units from Toms River responded. The child, who has not been identified, was subsequently transported by helicopter to Cooper Medical Center.
Both parents were in the home at the time of the incident, Stocco said.

Toms River Animal Control Officers responded and took the dog into custody for evaluation and observation, according to Stocco.
