TOMS RIVER, NJ — One person suffered minor injuries Wednesday when a 93-year-old Toms River man lost control of his car and crashed through the front of TD Bank on Route 9, police said.

Anthony Marino, 93, was not injured in the crash that happened about 1 p.m., said Jillian Messina, media relations specialist for the Toms River Police Department.

Marino was trying to make a left onto Route 9 at the time, Messina said, but instead accelerated, and the car drove across the road and onto the TD Bank property at 2338 Route 9, hitting a support wire, a street sign, and a light post before smashing through the front glass and coming to a stop in the lobby at the tellers' desk, as seen in photos published by Ocean County Scanner News (below).
