Contests, demonstrations, a ribbon cutting and more scheduled for Saturday

When does beach season officially start? This Saturday, according to LBI's Soar into Summer event.
The day-long celebration, organized by the LBI Region Destination Marketing Organization, kicks off the season with family events at businesses and organizations up on the island and on the other side of the bay.
A kite-flying contest begins at 10:30 a.m. at the 17th Street beach entrance in Ship Bottom, offering prizes like beach badge sets and theater and film tickets to the top three kite designs.
