Discover the Historical Significance of the Jersey Shore in the American Revolution

FORKED RIVER – Did you know the Jersey Shore played a vital role in the U.S. fight for independence? Honor America’s 250^th anniversary and learn our state’s significance during “War at the Shore” from 2 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 8 at the Lacey Branch of the Ocean County Library.

New Jersey experienced more military engagements than any other colony throughout the war, including the six most significant conflicts in what is now Ocean County: the Toms River Blockhouse Fight, Defense of Egg Harbor, Long Beach Island Massacre, Manahawkin Skirmish, and the Affair at Cedar Bridge.

Join us to explore how bitter, personal grudges and local resources made this area a hotbed of activity during the Revolutionary War.

The Ocean County Cultural & Heritage Commission will present the program.

This program is geared toward teens, adults, and seniors.
