TOMS RIVER, NJ — The warming weather has people getting out golf carts and other low-speed vehicles to get around, especially on the barrier island.
With the increasing traffic, Toms River police have issued reminders about the law regarding low-speed vehicles.
When you are operating a low-speed vehicle:

– It is only allowed on roads with speed limit of 25 mph or less
– You are allowed to cross Route 35, but NOT drive along Route 35
– You are not allowed on Bay Boulevard, which has a 30 to 35 mph speed limit
– Driver’s license required
– Registration and license plates required
– Insurance required
– Need headlights, taillights, brake lights, and turn signals
– All occupants must be seat-belted.
