Murray Grove Retreat and Conference Center inaugurates the second season of its popular Grove Gatherings Coffee House series on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at the Unitarian Universalist Ocean County Congregation (734 Route 37 West, Toms River, NJ, 08755) with a performance by British folk singer, musician and humorist Bram Taylor.
Bram Taylor, on a performing tour of the U.S. from the UK, is an entertaining artist with a distinctive voice and relaxed stage presence who gives an evening "Taylored" to suit his audience. Bram calls on his large repertoire of traditional songs, together with contemporary and humorous material. He has his audiences singing, laughing from his infectious sense of humor, and occasionally, shedding a tear or two from some of the poignant songs Bram loves to sing. For more about Bram, see his website at http://www.bramtaylor.com.
Modeled after English Folk Club style coffeehouses, folks relax while performing artists have an attentive and appreciative audience. Many people come early, at 6:30 pm, and bring their favorite appetizers and deserts (BYOB) to share, and to socialize while winding down from the stress of the day. Well known artists present their talents from 7:00 pm until about 9:00 pm. To date Valerie Vaughn, Frank Fotusky, Pete Wagula, Jim Albertson and others monthly have entertained full house audiences to everyone’s delight. The Grove Gatherings Coffee House is conducted on the 2nd Wednesday evening monthly.
