The Garden State Philharmonic’s Youth Orchestras Program (GSPYO) will take the stage at Toms River Intermediate School East in Toms River on January 22 at 3:00 p.m. With more than 100 students representing 22 schools this winter concert promises to warm the hearts of even Jack Frost.
The three age-specific performing ensembles (The Symphonic Youth Orchestra, the Concert youth Orchestra and the String Ensemble) that represent the GSPYO will perform under the direction of Leslie Hollander, Marilyn Osmundsen and Jaime Chavan. The concert will provide parents and other audience members with a broad selection of classical material the student musicians have been working with thus far this season.
Adult patrons of the professional Garden State Philharmonic may be more familiar with the work of the oldest ensemble (The Symphonic Youth Orchestra) since they made a guest appearance performing alongside professional musicians in the Philharmonic’s December 2011 holiday concert.
