George and Martha Washington: A Love Story @ the Upper Shores Library

LAVALLETTE – Celebrate the 250^th anniversary of the USA with a reenactment of the life and love of America’s first couple in “George and Martha: A Love Story” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 15 at the Upper Shores Branch of the Ocean County Library.

Historical interpreters Alisa Dupuy and Curt Radabaugh will portray George and Martha Washington, bringing a human element to the tale of our nation’s origins. George and Martha were vibrant figures with a strong marriage that lasted more than 40 years. They lived and loved and had their joys as well as trials. During the war, Martha joined George every winter in camp so they could be together and to provide the support he needed to maintain his morale.

This presentation seeks to educate people about this important couple as well as the people who surrounded them and helped them achieve all they did. Hear about how they met, their marriage, families, responsibilities, and their love.

Military veteran and retired law enforcement officer Curt Radabaugh transformed his lifelong admiration of George Washington into a mission to help preserve America’s past for a new generation.

Martha Washington is one of many historic portrayals by retired teacher Alisa Dupuy, owner and creative force of The Ladies of History. She seeks to make history fun and to emphasize the importance of women’s contributions to it. Alisa has brought iconic women to life for historical societies, libraries, book and social clubs, schools and charitable fundraisers.
