Get Rid Of Unneeded Prescriptions At Drug Take Back Day In Toms River
Medications that are no longer needed can be disposed of safely at the collection event, which aims to keep pills off the streets.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — Do you have prescription medication sitting in your cabinet that you no longer need?
You can dispose of it safely on Saturday, April 22, at the Take Back Day prescription medication collection event in Toms River.
The Toms River Police Department will have collection sites at eight sites around the township. You can drop off unneeded or expired medications that are in pill or dry forms. They cannot accept needles or liquid medications. No identification is necessary; prescription labels should be removed from the containers.

The goal of National Take Back Day is to get prescription medications that are not needed out of the reach of people who will steal them and try to sell them on the streets illegally.
If you are unable to drop off medications on Saturday, the Project RX dropbox is located in the lobby at the police department, 255 Oak Ave. It is accessible and secure around the clock seven days a week.

The following sites will accept prescription medications from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.:

- Holiday City Phase 2 Clubhouse, 1846 Yorktowne Blvd.
- Silverton Firehouse, 15 Kettle Creek Road
- Homestead Run Clubhouse, 100 Fireside Blvd.
- Toms River Senior Center, 652 Garfield Ave.
- Gardens of Pleasant Plains Clubhouse, 41 Columbine Circle
- West Dover Elementary School, 50 Blue Jay Lane
- Walmart, 950 Route 37 West
