Locally Filmed Movie DETOURS to Premiere at The Strand Theatre Sep 18
Road-Trip Comedy Shot in Ocean County Stars Richard Kind, Paul Sorvino, Michael Cerveris, & Phyllis Somerville
Lakewood, NJ: Indie road-trip comedy DETOURS, which was largely shot in Ocean County, will have its New Jersey premiere on Sunday September 18 at 7 PM at the Strand Theatre in Lakewood. Richard Kind (Inside Out), Paul Sorvino (Goodfellas), Michael Cerveris (TONY Award for Fun Home on Broadway) and Phyllis Somerville (The Big C) join stars Tara Westwood (Surviving Family) and Carlo Fiorletta (Available: A Modern Day Fairy Tale) in this road trip comedy about starting over at any age.
DETOURS features many popular local sites, including the White Sands Hotel, the recently shuttered Firefly Oceanside Restaurant, The Ark Pub, Used To Be’s Restaurant, Bayside Café, Charlie’s Farm Market, the beach
in Lavallette, and the Strand Theatre itself. Many locals were cast as extras, and Tiffany Dance Academy provided expert dancers.
The movie produced a real-life detour, according to actor Carlo Fiorletta. “My wife (screenwriter Mara Lesemann) and I fell in love with Ocean County, and we’re delighted to be new residents of Lakewood. It’s a real thrill for us to bring DETOURS back where it started.”
