The Lakehurst man had a handgun with an extended magazine when he was arrested in a neighboring apartment, Toms River police said.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — A Lakehurst man is being held on assault and weapons charges after he was accused of pointing a gun at a woman and threatened to kill her, Toms River police said Thursday.
Jaylin Evans, 20 of Lakehurst, is being held at the Ocean County Jail on a host of charges stemming from the incident that happened about noon Wednesday at the Main Street Apartments, said Jillian Messina, media relations specialist for the Toms River Police Department.
The woman told police Evans pointed a handgun at her during an argument, hit her in the head and pushed her into the walls of the apartment, Messina said. The woman said Evans blocked her path and wouldn't allow her to leave, and said numerous times that he would kill her. He then damaged her phone and television before leaving the apartment, she told police.
