Man Hit On Route 70 In Toms River After Motorcycle Breaks Down
The man had called AAA for assistance with the motorcycle and was hit while crossing to talk to the driver, police said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A Lakewood man was listed in critical condition Monday after he was hit by a car on Route 70 Sunday night, Toms River police said.
John Daniels, 54 of Lakewood, was hit shortly before midnight Sunday as he tried to cross Route 70 near Massachusetts Avenue, police said. Daniels had been riding a motorcycle that stopped running and had called AAA for assistance. He was crossing Route 70 to speak with the AAA driver when he was hit by a 2007 Dodge Caliber driven by Marc Trzaska, 49 of Lakehurst, police said.
The initial investigation found no indication of impairment of Trzaska and no indication he was using a cell phone at the time, police said.

Daniels was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, and was listed in critical, but stable, condition on Monday afternoon.
Toms River Police Traffic Safety Officer David Bartosheck is investigating.
