Man Pleads Guilty In Stabbing At Toms River Motel
Carles E. Bryant pleaded guilty to attempted murder for stabbing a woman multiple times in the Howard Johnson motel lobby. She survived.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A Millville man has pleaded guilty to attempted murder in the March stabbing of a woman at the Howard Johnson motel in Toms River, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office announced.
Carles Bryant, 34, pleaded guilty to attempted murder Wednesday before Superior Court Judge Rochelle Gizinski, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said. As part of the plea agreement, the state is set to recommend a 15-year prison sentence, subject to the No Early Release Act, he said.
Sentencing is set for Oct. 13.

Toms River police were called to the Howard Johnson on Hooper Avenue about 10:30 p.m. on March 3 about a fight in the lobby between a man and a woman and found a woman unresponsive with multiple stab wounds to the head, face, and body, Billhimer said. The woman was treated at a local hospital and eventually released, he said.
A warrant for Bryant's arrest was issued the next day, and he was finally arrested on March 19 in Atlantic City by the United States Marshals Service without incident, Billhimer said.

He has been in the Ocean County Jail since his arrest.
Assistant Prosecutor Victoria Veni handled the case. The Prosecutor's Office Major Crime Unit and High Tech Crime Unit, Toms River Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Service, New Jersey State Police, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit investigated.
