NJ Natural Gas Set To Replace Gas Main In Ortley Beach
Traffic and service disruptions will occur during the six-week project, the company says.

TOMS RIVER, NJ -- New Jersey Natural Gas is alerting residents that it will be replacing gas pipes and other infrastructure in Ortley Beach, which will result in service disruptions and traffic detours while the work is completed.
A notice posted on the Toms River township website says the work to replace 5,125 feet of 2-inch bare steel distribution main "and associated services" will begin in early April and is expected to take about six weeks to complete.
During construction residents should expect lane shifts, road closures and detours, the notice said.

"NJNG’s contractor will replace and/or reconnect all natural gas service lines in the project area at no cost to the property owner," the notice said. "Affected property owners will be contacted to make arrangements for their natural gas service to be restored at a mutually agreeable time. Additionally, in order to relight all appliances NJNG will require access to the property."

- Durborow Avenue, 1st Avenue and Haag Avenue from Bay Boulevard west to Route 35 south
- Washington Avenue from 2nd Avenue to Haag Avenue
- Baltimore Avenue from 2nd Avenue to Trenton Avenue
- Fort Avenue from Route 35 north to East Central Avenue
- 7th Street from Route 35 northbound to Pennsylvania Avenue East
- Sea Gull Lane from Route 35 north to Railway Avenue East
- Railway Avenue East from Sea Gull Lane to 1st Avenue
New Jersey Natural Gas is urging property owners to make sure their NJNG account has the most up-to-date contact information so the company can reach them to arrange for reconnection and appliance relighting.
