NY Woman Charged In Seaside Heights Motel Stabbing

The woman told police she was playing around and stabbed the man accidentally.

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ — A New York woman is facing aggravated assault charges after she allegedly stabbed a man in the back in a Seaside Heights motel early Friday morning, police said.

Police were called to the Surfside Motel, 200 Ocean Terrace, about 6 a.m. Friday, Seaside Heights Detective Steve Korman said.

Patrolman Matthew Decataldo found the victim, a 42-year-old man from Poughkeepsie, New York, who had been stabbed in the back. He was treated at the scene by Tri-Boro First Aid Squad and flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment, Korman said. He remains in stable condition.

A woman who was with him, Jessica Heubach, 27, of New Paltz, New York, told Dectaldo she had stabbed the man accidentally while she was playing around with a knife, Korman said.

Heubach was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Korman said.

It was not clear Friday afternoon where she was being held. She was not yet listed in the Ocean County corrections website as of 1:15 p.m.
