Ocean County GOP Head Probe Prompts Subpoenas To Ocean County, Towns: Report
Breaking: TGeorge R. Gilmore already is under investigation on charges of $1 million in unpaid income taxes.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A subpoena was served on Ocean County government this week, seeking financial and other business records have in a federal investigation into George R. Gilmore, chairman of the Ocean County Republican Party, according to a report.
The Asbury Park Press reported the subpoena was delivered Wednesday and orders the county to to produce all retainer agreements, resolutions or contracts for services by Gilmore or his Toms River law firm, Gilmore & Monahan.
Towns in Ocean County where Gilmore, 67, or his firm serve as counsel in some capacity also have received similar subpoenas, according to the report.

The county subpoena also demands all invoices, bills or payments connected with the firm, as well as all minutes and recordings where Gilmore or a representative of the firm were present to provide legal services, the report said.
Gilmore already is under investigation on charges he failed to pay $1 million in income taxes. The Internal Revenue Service has placed three tax liens against Gilmore's properties as that probe continues.

It was unclear whether Wednesday's subpoenas were tied to the tax probe or were for a separate investigation.
