PA Woman Hit Crossing Hooper Avenue In Toms River
The woman, who was seriously injured, was hit after she climbed over the concrete barrier along the center of the road, police said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A Pennsylvania woman was severely injured Friday when she was hit by a vehicle after climbing over a Jersey barrier on Hooper Avenue, Toms River police said.
Ebony Shepherd, 34, of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, was hit about 6 p.m. as she tried to cross Hooper Avenue from east to west near James Street, said Jillian Messina, media relations specialist for the Toms River Police Department.

Shepherd was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River but subsequently flown to Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center in New Brunswick due to the severity of her injuries, Messina said.
"The driver of the vehicle exhibited no signs of impairment and was not injured as a result of the
crash," she said.

The Ocean County Sheriff Department’s CSI Unit also assisted at the scene. Toms River Traffic Safety Officer Mark Nater and Patrolman Will Resetar are investigating.
