OCEAN COUNTY, NJ — Decorating for Halloween is one of the favorite pastimes in the United States, with people spending more than $3 billion yearly to make their yards delightfully scary and deviously demonic.
It's a favorite in Ocean County, too, from whimsical ghosts and 12-foot skeletons to truly demented haunted yards.

For people who love to see Halloween decorations, Patch has gathered a list of scary yards in Ocean County for folks to drive around and have fun checking out.

JUST A REMINDER: Please be respectful of people's neighbors. Don't yell, scream, honk your horn or litter. Understand that people have to work and children have school so most displays will be shut off by 10 p.m. on weeknights.
The list is sorted by town, north to south in Ocean County. New entries will be added to the top of each town, so come back and see as new homes are added.
BRICK

Berkeley’s Nightmare Before Christmas
153 Berkeley Drive, Brick
The haunt runs nightly from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. and 6 p.m.-10 p.m. on weekends and features homemade and purchased "Nightmare Before Christmas" theme items. Visitors can walk along the sidewalk to view the haunt. There are singing pumpkins, a flying Zero, swinging mummy, and 13-foot Jack for a photo op. The mayor is one of our favorite features as well.
They have an Instagram page, @berkeleysnightmarebeforexmas, and have been featured on Jersey Shore Haunters. On Halloween they be will giving out "Nightmare Before Christmas" items to trick-or-treaters.

Halsey's Haunt
192 Baywood Blvd., Brick
The display is always on unless it's windy.

Mazza's Minions
110 Stephan Road, Brick
Lit nightly from 5 p.m.-midnight. They are accepting new and unopened food donations for Percy’s Paws Rescue of Brick.

The Halloween House
107 Colonial Drive, Brick
Display lit 5 p.m.-10 p.m. nightly.

Walcott Manor
235 Cottonwood Drive, Brick
Display lit nightly (weather permitting) from 6:30 p.m.-10 p.m. On Halloween they will also have atmospheric music and fog. Highlights are a 10-foot-tall werewolf, 9-foot winged creature, life-sized zombie horse, 7-foot Grim Reaper, 8-foot-long Ferry of the Dead, as well as custom-designed props.
They are collecting donations for the Alzheimer’s Association.

BrickTucky Graveyard
45 Birch Drive, Brick
Display lit nightly through the first week of November from 6:30 p.m.-11:30 p.m.

Spooky Q Haunt
308 Spruce Drive, Brick
Lights will be on select nights until 9 p.m. On Halloween only, there will be a walkthrough with live actors, lighting, fog, music, ghostly projections, and special effects. They hand out full-size candy bars.

Dreadful Delaware Drive Cemetery
292 Delaware Drive, Brick
"We’ve been doing our display for 16 years now. This year we have added a haunted corn trail, a spooky skeleton punk rock band that will be 'playing' streaming punk rock and heavy metal on Halloween night." On Halloween they also plan to have a haunted movie theater in their driveway. Display is lit nightly except for rainy days.
POINT PLEASANT

Whispering Pines Haunted Display
2302 River Road, Point Pleasant
The display will be up until Nov. 1. It's named for the house, which was named Whispering Pines by the family more than 75 years ago. The display started with "Big Al," one 12-foot skeleton, a few years ago, and now he has many more friends. There's a graveyard, pumpkin patch, giant spiders and other creatures, and special lighting effects. On Halloween they add more effects and music, and they have fire pits and friendly faces out in the driveway all night hanging out to take a break from walking door-to-door. They will be collecting donations for the Epilepsy Foundation for epilepsy research.
JACKSON

Great Scott, It's The Great Pumpkin
11 Scottsdale Court, Jackson
The 20-foot inflatable pumpkin is the centerpiece of this display that's suitable for kids. It's inflated from 7 p.m.-midnight, and the rest of the display is visible around the clock through Halloweeen.

Nightmare on Mirta Court
13 Mirta Court, Jackson
Display is lit from 6:30 p.m.-midnight nightly. They welcome donations of non-perishable food items for the Jackson Food Pantry. Bin by the mailbox.
TOMS RIVER

Jill's House of Horrors
298 Jill Court, Toms River
Lit up 5 p.m.-10 p.m.

Batchelor Street Boneyard
505 Batchelor St., Toms River
"Nightmare Before Christmas"-themed display that includes a 12-foot Jack Skellington.

The Rizzos' Halloween House
1240 Audubon Drive, Toms River
Display is on every night from 7 p.m.-11 p.m.

Grims' Scary Tales
3205 Equestrian Way, Toms River
Lit nightly starting at 6 p.m. through Halloween. On Oct. 30 they add professional fog machines, haunted sounds through speakers and many more animatronics with a walk-through blow-up house while people are trick-or-treating.

The BONEyard
179 Arizona Ave., Toms River
Display lit daily 6 p.m.-11 p.m. They are collecting donations for Warhorse Scuba Inc., which is dedicated to helping U.S. combat veterans.

Biohazard Puke
1416 Lawrence Ave., Toms River
Nightly scares, 6 p.m.-11 p.m.

Cedar Inn's Spine-Chilling Haunt
26 Cedar Inn Drive, Toms River
Display is lit nightly from 6:45 p.m.-11 p.m. On Oct. 29 and 30 they will have a free haunted house (it will be in the driveway) from 4 p.m.-9 p.m. with live actors and lots of scares. They are collecting donations for the Ocean County Animal Shelter.

Bergen Bay Cemetery
3450 Bergen Ave., Toms River
They have a witch-themed small house that offers a photo op for small children, along with spooky lights and tombstones, props, and skeletons. They will be handing out full-size candy on Halloween. Display lit nightly.

Squire Village Creepy Carnival
27 Winchester Drive, Toms River
They have a creepy graveyard and a homemade 500-square-foot walk-through haunted house. On Halloween, the haunted house will be open and they will have treat bags with various full-size bars, Pokemon cards and other treats and prizes. There will be live actors, a fog machine and creepy carnival games where brave contestants can try to upgrade their candy to a movie theater box, Mr Beast Bar or even an Ice Pop Prime!
BEACHWOOD

Maple Street Screamfest
90 Maple St. Beachwood
At the corner of Maple Street and Surf Avenue. Lights up from 6 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. Many of the props are handcrafted.
BERKELEY TOWNSHIP

Demons Haunt
395 Princeton Ave., Bayville
Tons of skeletons and ghouls and demons.

Cornelius Street Creepfest
250 Cornelius St., Bayville
Display lit nightly 6 p.m.-10 p.m.
LACEY

Bones Walk-In Mental Hospital
108 Lawrence Drive, Lanoka Harbor
Monday sundown to 9:30 p.m., and Halloween, where they will have lights, music and fog.

The Devil's Dungeon
472 Steuben Ave., Forked River
Display is lit Monday-Thursday 6 p.m.-10 p.m. and Friday-Sunday 6 p.m.-11 p.m. with special effects.

Cypress Street Asylum
1247 Cypress St., Forked River
Display lit nightly 5 p.m.-10 p.m. Walk-through with actors on Oct. 20, 21, 27, 28 and Halloween.

OUT OF AREA — LAWRENCEVILLE
Haunted House on Balsam
1 Balsam Dr. Lawrenceville NJ 08648
Display is lit from 6:30 p.m.-10 p.m. nightly. They took first place in the Lawrence Town Halloween decorating contest in 2022 and have more than doubled the display since then. Check it out on their Facebook reel.
